06. Artificial control of cleavage site of signal sequence and its application for protein engineering

Chicken lysozyme signal sequence was cleaved at the optional site artificially introducing turn structure by amino acid substitution using gene engineering technique. Using this system, lysozyme N-terminal mutant was produced, which showed high lytic activity even at high pH or high ionic strength conditions.
