Three dimensional structure of neutralization epitope site1 of swine vesicular disease virus (SVDV) was analyzed by site-directed mutagenesis and 3D-modeling. By a mutagenic study, the region from K80 to A90 accepted the insertion or substitution of amino acids and the progeny virus was recovered by transfecion. By the 3D-modeling, this region was predicted as an entity which formed a free loop and protruded from the virus particle.
