To identify the genetic determinants of plaque morphology of swine vesicular disease virus (SVDV), a panel of recombinant chimeric viruses and site-directed mutant viruses were constructed from infectious cDNA clone of a large and small plaque phenotype strain. From plaque size examination, we conclude that two amino acids (VP1: 132 and 2A: 19) are determinants of plaque morphology.
