01. Estrous Synchronization of Pigs with Repeated Administration of PGF2a

Japanese

The repeated administration of prostaglandin (PG)F2a to cyclic pigs with functional corpora lutea induced early luteal regression and synchronized their estrous cycles. The hormone profiles during the estrous phase of PGF2a-treated pigs were similar to normal ones. The reproductive performance after natural service or artificial insemination of the synchronized pigs was normal. This treatment proved useful for estrous synchronization in pigs.
