Actinase E pretreatment was shown to enhance immunoreactivity of Neospora caninum in paraffin embedded tissue sections. When the distribuiton of Neospora in each organ of aborted fetuses was examined using the pretreatment technique, the organisms were most frequently detected in brain, kidney, tongue and spinal cord. The results indicate that these tissues must be examined in any immunohistochemical diagnosis of the disease. (Infectious Disease Pathology Section, Department of Infectious Diseases Tel:0298-38-7837)
