11. Identification of a Genetic Determinant for Pathogenicity in Chicken Anemia Virus

Japanese

One of the genetic determinants of pathogenicity for chicken anemia virus was identified from the results of pathogenicity tests for chickens and sequence analysis of several infectious clones. Highly pathogenic and low pathogenic cloned viruses possessed glutamine and histidine at residue 394 of VP1, respectively. The low pathogenic cloned virus identified may be useful for the development of safe live vaccines. (Pathogenic Virus Section, Department of Infectious Diseases TEL+81-298-38-7760)
