32. Tick control in pastures by a combination of acaricides and total grazing management

Japanese

Tick control of pastures plays an important role in controlling tick-transmitted protozoan parasite diseases, such as theileriosis and babesiosis in grazing cattle. We present a field investigation of effective tick control. The use of appropriate volumes of acaricides continually during the total grazing period of all cattle, the cessation of grazing, intensive grazing, and the prevention of wild animal invasion of the pastures are all effective in decreasing the tick population of pastures.
