24. Monoclonal antibody-based competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of antibodies against O:4 Salmonella in the sera of livestock and poultry

Japanese

Serotyping is important for surveillance of Salmonella. We developed a competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on a novel monoclonal antibody against O:4 Salmonella, 414B. The 414B-based competitive ELISA could identify Salmonella infection in cow, pig, horse, and chicken. We believe the 414B will be useful in screening for salmonellosis in livestock and poultry. In addition, this method may also be effective in diagnosing Salmonella infection in reptiles, domestic pets, as well as zoo animals that are often found to be carriers of Salmonella.
