The cultivated land area in hilly and mountainous areas accounts for about 40% of the total cultivated land area in Japan. However, by regionwise, Chugoku and Shikoku regions occupy the top of the regions with a large proportion, and most of them are unfavourable regions. On the other hand, promotion of regional development by horticultural crop production utilizing various topography and weather conditions in mountainous areas is being sought. Our Group aims to develop facility production technology for the stable and sustainable production of horticultural crops while utilizing unused resources and renewable energy in hilly and mountainous areas.
