This division consists of two research groups, the Protected Cultivation Vegetable and Flower Breeding Group and the Open Field Cultivation Vegetable and Flower Breeding Group. We are developing pilot varieties and breeding materials of major vegetable and flower crops such as Solanaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Strawberry, Brassicaceae, Allium, Chrysanthemum, Dahlia, Carnation and Eustoma. To achieve this, we are clarifying the genetic mechanisms and developing DNA markers for high content of functional substances and resistance to serious diseases, insects and nematodes.
